"Making Christ known from the river to the ends of the earth"
Education
The approach of North Buffalo Lutheran Church Sunday School Program is to help all the children understand the stories of Jesus and a Christian way of life. The students are learning constantly about the love and compassion of Jesus. Education is a key foundation to any individual and learning is continuous as we serve youth from age 3 to high school seniors.
Our first day of organized classes for Sunday School is September 2010. After a quick snack in our fellowship hall, children and youth will gather in the sanctuary for music led by Paul Fossum. Classes will then be located in various areas for different age groups. Our congregation will be using the new Augsburg Fortress curriculum called Akaloo; it looks like an inviting, exciting opportunity awaits each learner at North Buffalo ! Special events have also been planned in the upcoming year by our Sunday School teachers. Any children who would like to participate in our Sunday School program are welcome any time during the year !
The name Akaloo is inspired by a Greek word meaning "to follow." Jesus said to his disciples, "Follow me." Drop your nets ! A new life awaits you ! Akaloo is based on this simple, yet radical call to discipleship. We believe Akaloo will provide a basis for lifelong faith formation with the purpose of making disciples out of ourselves, out of each other and out of others who have not heard the invitation to follow Jesus. It is intentional discipleship that will open each of us to God's surprises !
Akaloo optimizes North Buffalo's power to gather, shape and send out disciples as the body of Christ and maximizes the uniqueness of home and family life as partners in the process. The use of age-appropriate print pieces and innovative technology invited our Education Committee to make this selection for our congregation. We're ready at North Buffalo to Akaloo.
In the words of one of our Sunday School Teachers. "My faith has grown because I have witnessed the love of Christ within the young ages. When I taught the high school classes I was able to see their faith mature and listen to their discussions. I learned a great deal about service as a teacher and hope the students gained as much from the experience as I did".
The Sunday School Classes enjoy the music and singing as part of their class each week. They are always learning new hymns and songs and often sing as a group for our Sunday Worship Service and also for special programs throughout the year. The Youth Group also volunteer to usher for our Worship Service.
Our children's musical leader Paul Fossum brings out the best in these young voices !

Confirmation Classes
Adult Bible Study
This class is designed to help each participant understand the connection between receiving the gift of grace offered through faith in Christ, and command to "go and make disciples" by sharing the gospel with others. A video presentation on evangelism by Kelly Fryer of Luther Seminary, workbook activities, discussion, singing and fellowship are planned. A light snack will also be served. Childcare is available. Evangelize! All are welcome to join the group and invite a friend, co-worker or neighbor!
Vacation Bible School
This summer, children participating in Vacation Bible School will be "transported" to various continents, exploring what it means to embrace the world with God's love. Each night the crafts, snacks, games, ect. will focus on a different continent - Europe (Scandinavia), Asia, Africa, and Mexico/South America - with North America being the focus of our Thursday evening church-wide event along the Red River.
Registration will begin in late May, so mark VBS on your calendar today ! Friends are always welcome, so begin thinking of the children in your neighborhood you can invite as well. Please give Pastor Mark a call to sign up at: 233-1620 or cell # 212-3504.Vacation Bible School

The Vacation Bible School students learned that God's love, as described in 1 Corinthians 13, is the greatest treasure of all. The evening was complete with dinner and boat rides by The Riverkeepers along the Red River. Vacation Bible School is held every summer and all children are welcome.
North Buffalo's Vacation Bible School has a more laid back approach to allow North Buffalo children and visitors to learn the stories of Christ. The time at Vacation Bible School allows the students to experience a theme and connect it with their faith.
