January 2008
It is January! It's time for the North Buffalo Quilters to start up production again! The quilters will meet for the first time this winter on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, January 9, 10 and 11. Quilting sessions will start at 9:00am. A potluck lunch will be shared at noon every day. For quilters and anyone who would like to help but cannot come at these times, quilt tops can be sewn ahead of these sessions. Please contact Londa Ingebretsen at 233-4624 if you are willing to help. North Buffalo quilts have literally gone around the world bringing warmth and joy to those who receive them!
March 2008
March isn't that far off, is it? And as we know at North Buffalo, March is Minneosta FoodShare Month. Last year we echoed the
cheers, “Can we do it? Yes we can!” and lined our sanctuary and Fellowship Hall with approximately 1600 canned goods that were delivered to the F/M Emergency Food Pantry. Our 1600 cans became 3200 cans when matched by participating corporate sponsors of this special drive! Many people were fed with the canned foods we shared as part of this community endeavor.
This year, we will “Box in Hunger” by boxing in a coat rack alcove in the Fellowship Hall with a goal of 2000 boxes of macaroni and cheese! “How do we box in hunger? We box it out!” Please begin bringing your donations of macaroni and cheese now! Let's start to “box out hunger”!
Two years ago, adults and youth joined together to plan, prepare and serve North Buffalo's Lenten dinners. This core group, Amici, organized to develop relationships across age groups, provide a delicious meal, foster fellowship and generate funds for the National Youth Gathering events.
We look forward to continuing this endeavor this Lenten season! If you would like to join the fun, please come to the Amici meeting on Wednesday, January 16 from 6:30-7:15. Consider bringing a menu suggestion and/or recipe to this planning and organizational meeting!
Again, Amici (which means “friends” in Latin) looks forward to sharing food and fellowship with others at North Buffalo during the upcoming Lenten season! Weekly meals will be announced in February's Current

Pentecost Sunday Balloon Release

Seventy two balloons were inflated and a Bible verse was attached to each balloon. God of wind and flame, God of strange new languages, God of life and growth: on that day of Pentecost You did amazing things in the lives of those first disciples. You filled them with power, and they used that power to shout the good news of the gospel to all the people around them. On this Pentecost day, we pray that Your Spirit would also be poured out upon us. We do not know exactly in what ways that Spirit might appear, and we do not know exactly in what ways that Spirit might lead us. But even so, we dare to pray for your Spirit to come and fill each of our lives, and to come and fill our church. Now as we release our festive balloons, by the power of your Spirit, ignite within us a renewed desire to reach out in love to those around us, especially those who have not yet heard or received the good news of Jesus. Place within us a burning desire to step out in faith, moving beyond what is merely simple or safe for us to do, so that we might pursue the mission that you have in mind for us. And set our hearts on fire to grow as your disciples , so that we might strive and work each day to grow in the ways that you want us to grow. We ask these things in the name of the one true God-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit ! Blow among us and make us bold disciples ! Come, Holy Spirit ! Empower us to be your people ! Amen !
